Mr. Fralick and I have been working with elementary children since 1984. We know the best kinds of art experiences are ones that are meaningful to the learners. One of the main strategies we employ at Blocks-Paper-Scissors is the facilitation and refinement of student's art ideas. Artists create ideas from a combination of five internal sources: emotion, observation, imagination, memory and experimentation. How do meaningful art education experiences occur? When children become the planners and designers of their artistic experiences, just like real artists, meaningful learning and creative growth occurs. Art activities and the creative experience in and of itself become personally rewarding for children in our classrooms.
We are so happy we could work with the folks at Indy Parks this year. My special thanks go to Linda Fink, Park Manager of Post Road Community Park. We have a beautiful space this year to work in. We are planning on opening the following centers at Blocks-Paper-Scissors Summer Art Camp: drawing, painting, collage, cardboard construction, block construction, textiles, printmaking, puppet theater and much more.
